Message from the President

Polk County Snowmobile trails cannot open before Dec 15th 2025. This is to minimize conflict with deer hunting. Before snowmobile trails can open these tasks must be accomplished: trails must be adequately brushed, trails must be properly signed, there must be sufficient snow, and where possible trails will be packed by groomers to help establish a base.

Polk County Snowmobile Clubs are working to have trails cleared of any remaining storm debris and prepared for opening on December 15th. If you are a snowmobiler and want trails open, it’s time for you to step up and help your local club. For many years these tasks have been completed by the same small group of faithful volunteers. That group is shrinking and continuing to age. Trails don’t mark and groom themselves. Trail opening could be delayed if our clubs don’t get some more volunteers. This is your opportunity to play a small part in building and maintaining the best trail system in Snow Country! Please visit our Polk County Snowmobile and ATV Council website to find out more information and contact a club.

Thank you. Todd Miller, President, Polk County Snowmobile & ATV Council
